BOOK OF DARK WISDOM: ISSUE #2 PREVIEW

Though the premiere issue of Book of Dark Wisdom has only just slithered out of our door, Elder Signs Press is already hard at work on the second issue. We thought we'd give you a preview of what's in the works for Issue #2:

Book of Dark Wisdom is Cthulhu-sized! We have so much great material that we have to provide even more Dark Wisdom! The magazine will retain the digest-sized (5½" by 8½") format, but the number of pages is increasing from 64 to 88. We regret that in order to increase the magazine size, we will affect a modest price increase from the present $5.00 to $6.00 US. Current subscribers are not affected by this price increase. The new price will take effect October 5th, so subscribe now and save a little!

Book of Dark Wisdom will also be 100% dual-stat for Issue #2.  All articles will be compatible with both Chaosium's BRP system and the d20 system.

One of the main highlights for Issue #2 includes the first of three articles that are...literally...monstrous. Readers can take a sneak peek inside the insidious text Monstres and Their Kynde in this series by David Conyers with Scott David Aniolowski and William Jones. The series includes glimpses inside the upcoming Call of Cthulhu books The Hand That Feeds by David Conyers, Malleus Monstroroum* by Scott David Aniolowski, and Secrets of New York* by William Jones, as well as creatures that only appear in Book of Dark Wisdom.

The first episode features Messengers of the Crawling Chaos. The Black Lion, the Black Man, the Dweller in Darkness, and the Floating Horror are but a few of the Avatars of Nyarlathotep that lurk within the pages of Issue #2. Intrepid readers will also find various minions who serve this dreadful god of many faces.

In keeping with the Nyarlathotep theme, we will have a great cover featuring "The Faceless God" by Rebecca Kemp.

We will also feature a new, full-length scenario for the upcoming Chaosium release, Cthulhu Dark Ages.

There is a comic in the works that should be ready for Issue #2. This ongoing graphic story shows what danger skulks in shadowy corners.

As if that wasn't enough, the magazine will provide the second article in the FBI History Series, focusing on the turmoil of the late 1920s and 1930s.

Issue #2 will contain winning haikus in our new Cthulhu haiku (Cthulhaiku) contest, which is just getting underway. Enter now, and enter often! Contest details are available on our website at: www.darkwisdom.com/contests.htm
.
The second issue also contains the conclusion to the two-part fiction Program of the Elder Gods by Steven L. Shrewsbury, as well as our usual departments, including Relics, Strange Beings, Dark Library, and Reflections from Leng by Chaosium's Dustin Wright. And, of course, Unanticipated Encounters, and more fiction and poetry.

Further improvements in the look and feel of the magazine are always in the works. Oh, and we have a surprise or two that we can't reveal just yet. But we think that you'll like the dark wisdom that we plan to impart....
